The horror of last-week-before-christmas shopping was fully realised today as Sarah and I ventured into John Lewis. It was a foolish mistake, we descended into a veritable maelstrom of winter clothing filled with sharp elbows and heavy shoes built for toe stepping. After looking for gift ideas in a restricted manner for half an hour, we realised that this was an exercise in futility and we took to our heels and fled for the old town to look for gifts in little shops not jammed with overexcited shoppers and were rewarded by me finding some excellent items that were perfectly suited to my requirements for giftage. I'm almost all set now, although next year I think that the internet will be used almost exclusively for prezzies, it's infinitely easier.
